Complaints and Appeals
The journal has a clear process for authors and others who want to appeal an editorial decision or complain about the journal's processes or conduct.
Appeals against editorial decisions
- Authors may appeal a rejection or another decision if they believe it was based on a factual error, a misunderstanding of the work, or a conflict of interest or bias on the part of a reviewer or editor.
- Appeals must be sent in writing to editor@mandalariset.com within 30 days of the decision. They must state clearly the grounds for appeal and respond point by point to the reasons given in the decision. Disagreement with the reviewers' assessment, without new evidence or a demonstrable error, is not a sufficient basis for an appeal.
- The appeal is considered by an editor who was not involved in the original decision, who may consult the editorial board or seek further review. The editorial office acknowledges the appeal within 5 working days and aims to reach a decision within 30 days.
- The decision on an appeal is final. Where an appeal is upheld, the manuscript is re-reviewed, usually with new reviewers.
Complaints
Complaints about the journal's processes, the conduct of editors, reviewers, or staff, or the handling of a manuscript can be sent to editor@mandalariset.com. They are acknowledged within 5 working days and are handled by an editor or the publisher who was not involved in the matter. The person who complained is told the outcome. Where a complaint concerns the editors, it may be addressed to the publisher, Penerbit Buku Mandala Riset Indonesia, at the same address, marked for the attention of the publisher.
Confidentiality and records
Appeals and complaints are handled confidentially. Records of the process and the outcome are kept. If a complainant remains dissatisfied, the journal will explain the process followed and the reasons for the outcome. Concerns about research or publication misconduct are handled under the Publication Ethics statement.
